In recent years, the
food and beverage industry in the world has perceived children and the youth as
a dominant market force. For this reason, children and adolescents have been
targeted by extreme, devoted food marketers and advertisers.
The childhood obesity epidemic is a serious
public health problem that increases morbidity, mortality, and has substantial
long term economic and social costs.
Everyone should think twice before deciding to
eat fast food. There are many health risks when it comes to eating food that’s
made within a matter of seconds. The health risks aren’t worth your life, and
animals that live in slaughter houses may not be treated properly or
hygienically before their death, which can cause many food-borne illnesses to
inhabit your sandwich. Although it is easy to buy and cheap, it can cost
thousands of dollars in hospital bills. And you cannot solely blame the restaurant
for your own eating habits.
McDonald’s along with other worldwide spread
fast food chains like KFC, Burger King, etc. sell meals that are high in fat,
salt, sugar and cholesterol while failing to warn of those ingredients link to
obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer. We are
talking about food being made affordable to the public with $1 sandwiches that
will end up costing 100's of thousands in healthcare expenses for the entire
world! This is bigger than obesity.
Why can’t people just go eat a salad instead of
eating fast food? They are addicted to junk food since their young nails. This
engineered processed food is dangerous just like cigarettes, alcoholic
beverages and illegal drugs. Fast food industry is growing rapidly and
attracting numerous misinformed customers daily with its low prices and million
dollar advertisements campaigns. Women usually tend to gain fat mostly in the stomach,
hips and thighs, while men tend to gain fat in the belly and waist.
However, fast food is one of the easiest and
cheapest ways of eating. It saves a lot of time and money, especially for
people who are coming home from work. it`s a convenient alternative to homemade
meals, quick customer-focused service and low prices lures millions of
customers daily.
The solution, in my view, is to replace this
edible evil through public education and regulation with fresh, unprocessed,
local, seasonal, real food.
But not only fast food affects overweight and
causes various diseases. As nowadays people have widely available indoor
passive entertainment and also due to sedentary lifestyle they take health
risks of physical inactivity also associated with various illnesses, increasing
the possibility to have hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular failure and
coronary thrombosis.
Sometimes a person follows a sedentary
lifestyle out of choice. For example, the nature of job these days is such that
one needs to be glued to his or her chair from eight to ten hours at a stretch.
Then we drive down by sitting in the car for long hours and the most convenient
way to unwind in the evening after a stressful day at work is by sitting in
front of the TV or a computer.
Ability of paying housing and communal services
bills online or the privilege of online shopping have all added to our
sedentary hours. Hence, we may not realize but most part of our day we spend sitting
on a chair or lying on a couch. This causes huge risks to our health.
To avoid this, we need recreation areas where
we can have regularly exercises on a daily basis. Or one may choose to include daily
activities such as walking, gardening, and other forms of physical labor. Families
with low income and less access to recreational facilities and green spaces are
more likely to face a higher risk of gaining an impact on their health in big
cities.
To sum up, it is the fact that we as society should
take under consideration both our food habits for proper weight management and
our lifestyle habits that could enhance our health and longevity.
